"I experienced thinning, mostly on the crown. The regrowth is fast! I am now 4 weeks post final chemo and if you didn’t know I had just gone through chemo, you would just think I had thin hair. "
I began my treatment in January 2022, I had 18 rounds of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel to treat Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer.
I found Paxman after I had started my chemotherapy treatment. I was originally using mobile caps which I had to freeze myself. During a two week break in therapy to get my port fitted, I looked into better options. That’s when I switched to Paxman; I feel if I had used it from the start I would’ve had a much better outcome.
As soon as I started using the cap my shedding slowed down considerably and my hair even started to grow back before treatment finished. The machine was easy to use and the cap wasn’t as uncomfortable as I expected. The first 15 minutes are the most uncomfortable but then it gets easier.
It was an extra step in the process which added time to my treatment, however, I feel it was definitely worth the extra effort. I took a hot water bottle with me and extra blankets to keep warm as we moved from summer into cooler weather.

I experienced thinning, mostly on the crown. The regrowth is fast!
I am now 4 weeks post final chemo and if you didn’t know I had just gone through chemo, you would just think I had thin hair. I have been very surprised at the regrowth of my hair, especially comparing it to my eyelashes and eyebrows.
I wore hats and hairbands during treatment and only had to wear a wig if I wanted to for special occasions.
I didn’t know at first that I should brush my hair twice a day so I did experience matting which probably contributed to more loss. I also wish I had bought a silk pillowcase from the start. Post-treatment I’m washing my hair as little as possible with a gentle shampoo and ensuring I brush daily. I don’t have much loss daily now. I also only use satin or silk hair bands.
I am happy with my scalp cooling experience and I am recommending it to others.
"I would like to thank my GP who found the cancer in the first place. They found some strange results, took them seriously and got my treatment started before the cancer had spread too far."
