Where possible we would always suggest starting scalp cooling when you begin your chemotherapy treatment, but there have been cases where people have not started scalp cooling until a couple of treatments in. Although they had no hair at all to begin with, some patients saw hair growth by the end of their treatment, so it is always worth speaking to your doctor or nurse.
If you are able to start scalp cooling from the beginning of your treatment, we would recommended that a paper theatre cap is used under the inner cap in scenarios where there is little or no hair present. This will prevent direct contact between your scalp and the cold cap, making the treatment more comfortable.
