The cold cap aims to reduce your scalp temperature to between 18C - 22C/64F - 72F. It is a common misconception that scalp cooling freezes your scalp. It doesn't. The coolant that runs through the cap is at -4C/25F which facilitates reducing your scalp to the optimum temperature to protect your follicles. Reducing the temperature of the scalp results in a combination of biological processes, which work to protect your hair follicles. For the majority of patients, whilst the first 15 minutes can be uncomfortable, they do acclimatize after this period and scalp cooling becomes tolerable.
