While scalp cooling is not currently a standard of care, it has come a long way in the last 5 years. Unfortunately, there has been a long-held belief that concern about hair loss due to chemotherapy was vanity. We have been working hard to ensure that scalp cooling and the role it can play in improving a patient's experience of treatment is firmly acknowledged as a key element in patient centred care. There is more work to do, but we hope that any patient with a solid tumor cancer will be offered scalp cooling in the future.
